Short Biography: Founded by Isolde Menges in 1931. Known as the "Isolde Menges String Quartet" up until aprox. 1936. Known as the "Menges Quartet from aprox. 1938 onwards). Usually consisted of Isolde Menges and Beatrice Carelle (violins); John Yewe Dyer (viola) and Ivor James (cello). Some known substitutions were Lorraine du Val (violin);
