Description
A collection of handbills and programmes for performances given at various venues in London between June 1817 and May 1865 arranged chronologically and held as a single volume.

The collection also includes a handbill for a performance given by the Royal North British Fusiliers for the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society on 6 September 1849 at the Promenade, Edinburgh.

Unless otherwise stated below, documentation for the concerts consists principally of handbills/single-sheet programmes.

- 10 New Street, Spring Gardens (Elegant Mansion of John Penn)
24 May 1830: Morning Concert au benefice d'un home de letters, conducted by Signor Costa (with programme).

- 4 Eccleston Street
29 June 1841: Miss Adelaide Kemble's Morning Concert (programme).

- 76 Harley Street
4 June 1846: Matinee Musicale, given by Miss Stevenson, conducted by Mr Moscheles (plus programme with words).

- Albion Hall, Hammersmith
12 November 1845: Mr Wrighton's Annual Concert, conducted by Mr F. B. Jewson (programme with words).

- Albion Tavern, Aldersgate Street
3 November 1862: Selection of Vocal Music to be performed at the Presentation Dinner of the Lord Mayor Elect, under the direction of Mr R. Glenn Wesley (programme with words).

- Arundel House Academy, Barnsbury Road, Islington (Mr Sprango's)
4 November 1840: Mr Dipple's Soiree Musicale.

- Eastern Dome
27 September 1862: Messrs. Rudall, Rose, Carte and Co's Instrumental Concert to be given as part of the International Exhibition.

- Exeter Hall
30 October 1834: Amateur Musical Festival, led by Franz Cramer and conducted by Mr W. Holderness (prospectus with words, lists of the Patrons, and lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles).
22 December 1837 and 16 March 1838: Handel, The Messiah/Handel, Israel in Egypt given by the Sacred Harmonic Society, conducted by Mr J. Surman.

- Infant School Room, Trinity Church Sloane Street, Upper Chelsea
11 April 1860: Handel, The Messiah given by Mr Carter's Choral Practice Class, conducted by Mr G. Carter (2 copies).

- King's Theatre
19 June 1817 and 26 June 1817, Concert Room: Grand Performance of Vocal and Instrumental Music, led by Mr Weichsel with Mr Liverati (piano).
11 March 1837: Rossini, La Donna del Lago.

- London Tavern, Bishopsgate Street
7 May 1838: Grand Concert by 'Mr Strauss of Vienna, the celebrated waltz composer'.
6 July 1848: Selection of Songs, Glees, etc to be sung at the Anniversary Festival of the Royal Maternity Charity (programme with words, including a large number of descriptive annotations).

8 April 1861: Amateur Concert for the Benefit of the Poor of Richmond.

7 October 1841: The Infant Sappho's Concerts, Positively the Last 4 Nights.

- Queen's Concert Room, Hanover Square
2 June 1840: Misses Pynes' Evening Concert, conducted by Mr Sturgis.
1 July 1840: Mademoiselle Henrietta Roeckel's Morning Concert, conducted by Herr Behrwolf.
28 November 1843: Mr Braham Fifth Concert.
15 June 1847: Mr Henry Wylde's Annual Grand Concert, conducted by Mr C. Lucas (programme with words).
11 June 1860: Miss Eleanor Ward's Evening Concert, conducted by Mr Benedict.
3 July 1861: Mr E. Silas' Evening Concert

- Regent's Park
11 June 1851: Band of the First Life Guards for the Royal Horticultural Society. The collection also includes handbills for similar performances, given at unspecified venues on 19 May 1852, 5 July 1854, 6 July 1856 and 4 July 1860.

27 August 1855: Grand Vocal and Instrumental Concert, conducted by C. and D. Godfrey.

- St. James's Hall
[no date] 1860: Buckleys' Serenades with Miss Julia Gould.

- St. Martin's Hall
15 November 1854, 28 February 1855 and 21 November 1855: Handel, Judas Maccabaeus/Mendelssohn, St. Paul/Handel, Acis and Galatea, under the direction of John Hullah (2 copies for 1855, the second with annotations).
20 and 21 January 1857: Performances on the New Organ nos. 8 and 9, given by Mr Best (organist of St. George's Hall, Liverpool) (single document).

- South Kensington Museum
8 October 1862: Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, Conversazione, conducted by Mr Godfrey.

24 March 1836: Mr Hawes Annual Concert of Vocal English Music, conducted by Sir George Smart.
