Collection Description

Collection Title
London: Halls: Westminster Central Hall (1919-2000)
A collection of two boxes of programmes from Central Hall, Westminster, from 1919 to 2000. The majority of the collection dates from pre-1970. The Hall is also known as the "Methodist Central Hall, Westminster" and the "Wesleyan Central Hall, Westminster".

The collection consists largely of programmes from orchestral and choral concerts. A number of performing groups are represented in the collection. There are a significant amount of programmes from performances by the Bach Choir, especially from the 1920s.

There are programmes from a number of different concert series. These include various series of concerts aimed at children such as the "Orchestral Concerts for Children" (conducted by Sargent, largely from the 1920s) and the "Robert Mayer Concerts for Children" (conducted by Malcolm Sargent, largely from the 1930s).

There are also a number of programmes from various concert societies. For instance, there are a number of programmes from concerts organised by the Morley College Concerts Society from the 1940s.

The programmes are arranged chronologically.
