Collection Description

Collection Title
English Provinces: Salisbury (1933-2004)
A collection of 30 programmes and prospectuses from Salisbury, from 1933 to 2004.

The majority of programmes in the collection are from concerts given in Salisbury Cathedral. Other venues represented in the collection include the following: Grounds of the Cathedral School; City Hall; Courtauld Concert Hall; Salisbury Methodist Church; Salisbury Playhouse. In addition, there is a programme from a concert organised by the British Music Society, Salisbury Centre, where the concert venue has not been specified.

The collection contains a number of concert diaries from entitled "Music in Salisbury", from 1971, 1978-1979 and 1990-1991. There is also a similar publication entitled "Salisbury Winter Concerts", from the 1971 to 1972 season.

There are nine prospectuses and festival programmes from the Salisbury Festival of the Arts and Salisbury Festival - the latter name in evidence on items from 1976 onwards. Items from both titles of festival span from 1967 to 1997.

The collection is divided between single-venue items (largely programmes) and multi-venue items (concert diaries, festival programmes and prospectuses). The programmes are arranged by venue, then chronologically.
