Description
A collection of 31 programmes and prospectuses from Newbury, from 1909 to 1991.

A significant number of programmes in the collection are from orchestral and choral concerts. These are largely from Newbury-based groups, including a significant amount of programmes from concerts given by the Newbury Choral Society (founded 1884), Newbury Amateur Orchestral Union (programmes are largely from the 1940s and 1950s) and the Newbury String Players.

The following concert venues are represented in the collection: Corn Exchange; Douai Abbey; Lecture Hall, Northbrook Street; Plaza Theatre; St. George's Church, Wash Common; St. Nicholas Church.

In addition there are programmes from the following organisations where the concert venue has not been specifed: Newbury and Districy Musical Festival; Newbury Musical Festival; Newbury Chamber Concert Society; Newbury Amateur Orchestral Union; Newbury Symphony Orchestra.

There are prospectuses and fliers from the Newbury Spring Festival from 1979 to 1984 (inclusive).

Building Information
The CPH collections now form part of the RCM Library. The majority of the concert programme collections are stored off-site so you need to request items before arriving. Requests for programmes are processed on Thursday for delivery to the library the following week. The Library itself is open Monday to Friday during term times and Tuesday to Friday during vacations.
