The majority of items in the collection are festival programme books from the Glyndebourne Festival Opera. The collection includes books from the following years: 1934-1936, 1939, 1952-2012. The early books are much slimmer and smaller than their later counterparts; the official programme books were launched in 1952. The collection includes material from the first festival, in 1934. In addition to festival programme books, there are also a number of individual opera programmes (from the 1930s), fliers and booking forms (largely from the 1990s). The collection includes a number of items from associated events, such as lectures and exhibitions.
The collection includes items from performances and events given outside of the main opera festival. These include concert programmes – for instance programmes from concerts given by the London Mozart Players in 1959 and 1961 – and courses. In addition, there are a small number of items from local events which used the performing space of Glyndebourne: for instance, recitals given as part of the Brighton Festival in 1989.
