Thomas Igloi Archives: Box B (1971-78)
A collection of press cuttings, handbills and concert programmes relating to the cellist Thomas Igloi (1947-76), forming Box B of the Igloi archives at Trinity College of Music (donated by Eric Taylor).

The press cuttings provide a range of biographical information about Igloi and include a number of concert reviews.

The handbills and programmes relate to three types of concert, given at various European venues between 1971 and 1978:
1) Concerts given by/featuring Igloi (1971-75)
2) Concerts given in 'Tribute to Igloi' (1976-78)
3) Other concerts

1) Concerts given by/featuring Igloi
The London performances listed here were all given under the auspices of the Kirkman Concert Society
25 October 1971, Purcell Rooms, London: with Peter Pettinger (piano) (handbill with biographical notes).
1-23 September 1972, Stresa, Italy: Festival Internazionale/Settimane Musicali di Stresa (prospectus), including a recital by Igloi (accompanied by Gerard Wyss) given on 5 September at the Teatro del Palazzo dei Congressi, Stresa.
21 October and 2 December 1972, Purcell Rooms, London: J.S. Bach, 6 Suites for Solo Cello (single document with biographical notes).
6-17 May [1973], Kennedy Centre [Washington]: Bach Festival, 12 concerts featuring the National Symphony Orchestra, the Bach Festival Chamber Orchestra, 4 choral groups and 21 soloists, under the direction of Antal Dorati (single handbill including ticket information). This event featured Igloi in two recitals of unaccompanied music, given on 7 and 10 May to mark his American debut.
28 August 1973, Marmorsaal des Schlosses Mirabell, Salzburg: with Heinz Medjimorec (piano) as part of IV. Salzburger Preisträger-Woche.
28 October 1973, Queen Elizabeth Hall, London: with Clifford Benson (piano) (handbill with biographical notes).
18 April 1974, Schubert-Saal, Vienna: unaccompanied music by J. S. Bach given under the auspices of the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft (with biographical notes).
23 May-1 June 1975, Bath: Bath Festival (prospectus), including a concert given with the Lindsay String Quartet on 26 May in the Assembly Rooms, Bath.

2) 'Tribute to Igloi'
Programmes with notes - including biographical notes on the performers, a note on Igloi and photographs - for three performances entitled Tribute to Thomas Igloi, given at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London.
21 September 1976: Pierre Fournier (cello) and Walter Klien (piano) (plus two copies of a handbill).
8 February 1977: Bartok String Quartet.
23 May 1978: Lindsay String Quartet with Clifford Benson (piano) and Karoly Botvay (cello).

3) Other concerts
26 May [no year], St. John's Smith Square: J. S. Bach, The Musical Offering (ed. Igor Markevitch), given by the Epsilon Orchestra (directed by Yannis Daras) with Oliver Butterworth (violin), Kathryn Lukas (flute), Rachele Raphael (harpsichord) and Timothy Mason (cello continuo) (with historical and descriptive notes).
