A collection of programmes for 7 concerts given at the Royal Albert Hall, London between 1949 and 1969, under the auspices of the Henry Wood Concert, held loosely within the first of two envelopes within a single folder [S10/5].

The second envelope of this folder includes an Order of Service for the Unveiling of a Window dedicated to the memory of Sir Henry J. Wood. This took place on 26 April 1946 at St. Sepulchre's Church, London and featured the BBC Symphony Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Basil Cameron [S10/6].

All of these documents include words, programme notes and lists of the choral and/or orchestral ensembles. The majority also provide photographs of the principal performers.

8 June 1949: Elgar, The Kingdom, given as part of the Elgar Festival by the London Symphony Orchestra and Royal Choral Society.
3 March 1961, 26 March 1963 and 6 March 1964: Henry Wood Birthday Concerts.
26 November 1965: Handel, The Messiah.
3 March 1966: Four Colleges Concert (A Tribute to H. Wood), conducted by George Hurst.
3 March 1969: Henry Wood Centenary, conducted by Sir John Barbirolli.

The BBC's Written Archives constitute the working papers of the organization from 1922 to the 1970s. They show in great detail how the BBC went about the task of making programmes, first for radio and later also for television. They detail the planning, production and content of these programmes, encompassing internal memoranda and minutes of meetings, financial records, correspondence with contributors, programmes records of various types, extensive press cuttings, audience reaction, concert programmes, publicity and publications. These detailed internal records are available for research from the beginning up to 1974.
