A collection of 22 loose programmes for performances given by the Reading Festival Chorus between 1951 and 1960, conducted, unless otherwise stated below, by W. Ewart Masser, held as the second of 7 envelopes of material relating to this organization.

The concerts on 20 February 1957 and 6 May 1959 were given at the Minster Church of St. Mary the Virgin, The Butts, Reading. The remainder were held in the Town Hall, Reading.

The concerts on 12/13 December 1951, 8 March 1952 and 9 March 1960 were given with a section of the Reading Symphony Orchestra. Thereafter the performances were given by the Reading Festival Chorus and Orchestra.

All programmes include information about the Chorus committee and an advertisement for the next concert in the series. The vocal soloists are listed below.

12/13 December 1951: Handel, Messiah with Joan Fullerton, Anne Wood, William Herbert and Hervey Alan (single document).

8 March 1952: Bach, St. Matthew Passion with Winifred Newnham, Kathleen Joyce, Eric Greene, Wilfred Brown, John Chamberlain and Richard Standen (with words and notes).

3 December 1952: Handel, Messiah with Isobel Baillie, Lucille Clarke, William Herbert and Scott Joynt.

29 April 1953: Coronation Concert with Adrienne Cole, Sheila McShee, Alfred Deller, Alexander Young and Alan Bailey (with words).

2 December 1953: Handel, Messiah, with Jennifer Vyvyan, Norma Procter, William Herbert and Hervey Alan.

7 April 1954: Bach, St. Matthew Passion, with Sheila McShee, Norma Procter, René Soames, Rowland Collier and Richard Standen (with words and notes).
