Description
A collection of programmes and wordbooks for three concerts, given on 5 and 28 May and 5 June 1894 at the Queen’s Hall, Langham Place, London.
5 May 1894: Grand Performance of Tannhäuser, Act III. and Wagnerian Selections, given by Miss Ella Russell, Miss Mabel Elliot, Mr Edward Lloyd and Mr Andrew Black (vocal), with the Queen’s Hall Choral Society and an orchestral ensemble led by J.T. Carrodus, conducted by Frederic H. Cowen (with a list of the orchestral ensemble).
28 May 1894: Grand Concert given by the Berner Liedertafel, a Swiss male-voice choir of 120 voices, conducted by Dr. Munzinger. This was a three-part concert of German choral music, with part 2 comprising violin solos performed by Max Reichel and accompanied by Raphael Roche.
5 June 1894: Grand Swedish Concert given for the benefit of the Extension Fund of the National Committee of the Y.M.C.A. of Sweden. This was three-part concert of largely Scandinavian vocal repertory, given by a select choir of 66 Swedish singers, under the leadership of Axel Taube, with Agnes Janson (vocal) and Anna Lang (violin) (with brief historical/biographical notes on the featured composers).
