Collection Description

Collection Title
Miscell. Concert Programmes (1828-36)
Unique Identifier
Mus.1.c.74
Description
A bound volume containing miscellaneous handbills and programmes with words for performances given at various Oxford venues – predominantly the Music Room – between 1828 and 1836, bound chronologically.

Unless otherwise described below as a handbill, all of these documents include the texts of the vocal pieces and take the form of either a small programme booklet or a single-sheet programme (printed on both sides). Where no other indication is given below, the performances were two-part miscellaneous concerts, consisting principally of vocal music with orchestral pieces at the start of each act and occasional instrumental solos/concertantes.

The majority of programmes provide information regarding the performers of the vocal and instrumental soloists. Where this is given as a prefix to the programmes, the information is reproduced below.
