Programme with words for a Memorial Concert of the Works of Peter Warlock, given on 23 February 1931 at the Wigmore Hall, London.

This was a two-part concert of vocal and instrumental music by Warlock, including the first performances of the songs ‘Bethlehem Down’ and ‘The Fox’. It was given by the following performers:

Megan Foster (soprano), John Armstrong (tenor) and Dale Smith (baritone), with The Oriana Singers, conducted by C. Kennedy Scott.

The International String Quartet (André Mangeot, Walter Price, Eric Bray and Jack Shinebourne), with Edward Walker (flute) and Terence MacDonagh (cor anglais).

The programme also provides a full list of the Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Constant Lambert with Arnold Bax, ‘at the piano’.

In addition to brief historical notes on some of the works performed, this document includes a photograph of Philip Heseltine/Peter Warlock, a quotation from Frederick Delius (dated 28/1/31), a list of Patrons/sponsors for the concert and a list of Warlock’s publications, arranged by genre.
