Description
A collection of prospectuses, with programmes, for the Orchestral Concerts and Recitals presented by the City of Leeds Music and Civic Theatre Committee/Leeds Leisure Services Committee and given at the Town Hall, Leeds between 1956 and 1977 (missing that for 1957-8), held as a bound volume. Also, an incomplete set of programme booklets for the performances of this kind given between 1960 and 1978 (bound as four volumes) and a parcel of material relating to other performances given in Leeds between 1961 and 1975.

All prospectuses include a list of the orchestral ensemble and a record of the conductors, ensembles and performers engaged for the season. They also provide an index of the music performed and some contain ticket booking information and photographs of certain principal performers.

All programme booklets carry biographical, descriptive and historical notes, only a very few or which include musical examples. The majority also provide a list of the orchestral ensemble.

In the listing below, the name of the leader and conductor of the performance is given in parenthesis immediately after the orchestra. Where no other indication is given, the following orchestras were led/conducted by the following musicians:
