Description
A miscellaneous collection of programme books for Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, presented by the British Broadcasting Corporation, and given at the Royal Albert Hall between 1950 (56th season) and 1988 (94th season). Also, a single-sheet programme for a Promenade Concert given at the same venue during the 1941 season and a programme book for a Promenade Concert given at St. Augustine's Kilburn on 26 July 1976 (82nd season).
All programmes are held loosely as the sixth box of the Cyril Eland collection.
Unless otherwise stated below, all documents include historical and analytical/descriptive programme notes, words for the vocal/choral pieces, and lists of the orchestral and, where appropriate, choral ensembles. From the 1966 season, the programmes include biographical notes and, from 1980, these begin to incorporate photographs.
