Collection Title
Concert programmes: Bedfont (1864-1884)
Unique Identifier
f.756. (1.)
Description
A collection of programmes, wordbooks and other documents relating to performances given at various venues in Bedfont, Middlesex – principally the National School – between 1864 and 1884, arranged chronologically within a single bound volume.

This volume also includes a newspaper cutting from the Suburban News of 25 November 1871, being an article entitled 'High Class Concerts at Bedfont' which established the connection between the Bedfont Church Benevolent Society and the series of musical performance in the village, stressing the significance of Arthur J.B. Goodwyn in the success of the latter. This concludes with a review of 2 performances given in 1871. There is also an unattributed newspaper cutting offering a review of the Christmas Concert given on 23 December. A handwritten annotation suggests that this might date from 1873.

Unless otherwise stated (below), concerts were given at the National School, Bedfont.

A small amount of detail regarding the performers is provided, suggesting that the concerts combined local musicians with some visiting soloists.
