Description
A miscellaneous collection of programmes for concerts either conducted by Sir Adrian Boult or featuring ensembles with which he was connected, given at various London venues and at the Town Hall, Birmingham and Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool between 1926 and 1962, held loosely in a single folder.

Also, programmes for a Royal Command Concert given at an unknown venue on 24 May 1935 and for a performance by the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Grande Salle du Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels on 12 March 1935 (both conducted by Boult) and a brochure for the European Tour of the Philharmonic Symphony Society of New York, 2 May-4 June 1930. The programme for Brussels includes notes, biographical notes, a list of the orchestral ensemble and a photograph of Boult and the tour brochure includes an individual programme for the performance on 4 June 1930 at the Queen's Hall, London, conducted by Arturo Toscanini.

Programmes are listed here alphabetically by venue, with the London venues followed by the provincial ones. In addition to the London programmes (listed below), the folder includes a photocopy of the title page for a concert given at the Royal Albert Hall on 20 September 1942 by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, with Myra Hess (piano), conducted by Boult.

6 February 1944: Anglo-Austrian Music Society hosted by Boult (handbill).

- Queen's Hall
22 March 1931: Bach, St. Matthew Passion, given as the 141st Concert of the Bach Choir (55th season), conducted by Boult (with words). Inserted in this programme is various material relating to other presentations of this work by the same performers, notably for the concerts given on 15/16 April 1930 (Town Hall, Birmingham), 7 April 1936 (Town Hall, Petersfield) and 6 April 1941 (Colston Hall, Bristol).

- Royal Festival Hall
May 1951/1 July-24 October 1951: Ceremonial Opening/Opening Season (leaflet).
19 October 1953: Royal Concert, Australia-New Zealand, given by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Charles Mackerras (handbill and programme with words, notes, biographical notes, photographs and lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles). Inserted in the programme are handwritten notes by Boult.
21 April 1955: National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, with Wendy Waterman (piano), conducted by Sir Malcolm Sargent (with biographical notes on the orchestra and photographs). Inserted in the programme are handwritten and printed notes regarding the appearance of the orchestra at the Promenade Concerts, written by Boult, who was on the 'Professorial Staff'.
Sunday 21 May [1962]: London Philharmonic Orchestra with Colin Horsley (piano), conducted by Harry Newstone (with notes, biographical notes and photographs). Inserted in the programme is a handwritten note to Boult, who one of the Directors of the orchestra.

2. Birmingham
- Birmingham, Town Hall
Three prospectuses, each containing programmes, biographical notes and photographs, for performances given by the City of Birmingham Orchestra, being the Eight Symphony Concerts of the 1929–30 and 1930–31 seasons (conducted by Adrian Boult/Leslie Heward) and the Four Concerts for Children of 1929–30 (conducted by Boult).

3. Liverpool, Philharmonic Hall
9 March 1926: Liverpool Philharmonic Society 10th Subscription Concert (87th season), being Bach, St. Matthew Passion, given by Dorothy Silk, Astra Desmond, Steuart Wilson and Herbert Heyner (vocal), conducted by Boult (with words, Introductory Notes by Boult, lists of the choral and orchestral ensemble and correspondence).

Collections Overview
The BBC's Written Archives constitute the working papers of the organization from 1922 to the 1970s. They show in great detail how the BBC went about the task of making programmes, first for radio and later also for television. They detail the planning, production and content of these programmes, encompassing internal memoranda and minutes of meetings, financial records, correspondence with contributors, programmes records of various types, extensive press cuttings, audience reaction, concert programmes, publicity and publications. These detailed internal records are available for research from the beginning up to 1974.
