BBC Chamber Concerts (1967–68)
Unique Identifier
A bound volume containing prospectuses and programmes for various performances/performance series given at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London between 1967 and 1968 (see below). Also, a single document for three concerts of the Shostakovich string quartets, given for the City Music Society by the Borodin String Quartet on 24, 26 and 28 June 1968 at Goldsmiths' Hall, London.

All programmes include notes, musical examples and, where appropriate, a list of the orchestral ensemble. The brochure for the Beethoven violin sonatas also provides biographical notes and photographs.

October 1967– March 1968: BBC Music Programme Sunday Series/Beethoven complete quartets and violin sonatas (prospectus and programmes).

October 1967–June 1968: BBC Third Programme Nine Concerts (prospectus and programmes).

27 November 1967: 1st International Concert Season of the European Broadcasting Union, Opening Concert, with the English Chamber Orchestra (programme).

7 April, 5 May and 2 June 1968: Beethoven Violin Sonatas given by Josef Suk and Jan Panenka (single document).

The BBC's Written Archives constitute the working papers of the organization from 1922 to the 1970s. They show in great detail how the BBC went about the task of making programmes, first for radio and later also for television. They detail the planning, production and content of these programmes, encompassing internal memoranda and minutes of meetings, financial records, correspondence with contributors, programmes records of various types, extensive press cuttings, audience reaction, concert programmes, publicity and publications. These detailed internal records are available for research from the beginning up to 1974.
