Collection Description

Collection Title
Arányi Collection: Box 11 (1915-38)
Unique Identifier
A collection of handbills and programmes for performances given by the violinist Jelly d'Arányi (1893–1966) at venues in London, in various English provincial towns and cities, and in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast between 1915 and 1938, held loosely within the penultimate of the 12 boxes comprising the Arányi Collection (1907–56). Also held are a number of undated programmes and five items for which no venue is given: three of these are dated as 1 April 1924, 27 October 1924 and 1 May 1926.

In addition to the concert programmes, this box contains a parcel of loose correspondence, the majority of which is address to Arányi's older sister Adila Fachiri (1886-1962).

The items are listed here by venue, with the London venues followed by the English provincial towns and then by locations in Scotland and Ireland. All performances featured Jelly d'Aranyi (violin) and the majority of the recitals/chamber music concerts were accompanied by Ethel Hobday. Additional performers are listed below.
