Description
A miscellaneous collection of programmes and wordbooks for performances given at a range of London venues and in Dublin, Liverpool, Portsmouth and Worcester between 1812 and 1813, including extended runs for the Concerts of Ancient Music and for Harrison, Bartleman and Greatorex's Vocal Concerts/Bartleman, C. Knyvett and W. Knyvett's Vocal Concerts. Also, a wordbook for William Crotch, Palestine, printed in London in 1812.
The programmes are bound chronologically as the fourth of seven volumes comprising the collection of Andrew Ashe (1759-1838). They are listed here alphabetically by venue with the London venues followed by the provincial ones.
The majority of the programmes for the Vocal Concerts include a list of the principal vocal performances and of the orchestral ensemble, as do the programmes for the benefits of Master King (12 June 1812) and Dr Callcott 22 February 1813). The final programmes for each season of the Vocal Concerts also list the Subscribers to the concerts.
A number of programmes carry handwritten annotations/corrections.
