This colletion consists of 11 loose programmes for concerts given by Mr C.E. Rowley. The first programme is for a concert given at the Manchester Athenaeum by Mr C.E. Rowley's Musical Union, 1/12/1886. The second has no date but it is a concert as part of Mr C.E. Rowley's Musical Unions Concerts 1886-1887 season, given at the Memorial Hall, Manchester. The third programme is for a Musical Union Concert, given in the Memorial Hall, 28/11/1887. The fourth programme is for a
Musical Union concert, held in the Memorial Hall, 12/3/1888. The fifth is for a Musical Union Concert, held in the Memorial Hall, 26/3/1889. The sixth programme is for a Musical Union Concert held in the Gentlemen's Concert Hall, 2/12/1889. The seventh programme is for a Musical Union Concert, held in the Memorial Hall, 10/12/1888. The eighth programme is for a Musical Union Concert, held in the Gentlemen's Concert Hall, 26/2/1890. The ninth programme is for Mr C.E. Rowley's Penny Popular Concerts, held in the Public Hall, Warrington, 23/9/1881. The tenth programme is for Mr C.E. Rowley's Penny Popular Concerts, held in the Public Hall, Warrington, 16/12/1881. The eleventh programme is for a Mr C.E. Rowley's Musical Union Concert, held in the Gentlemen's Concert Hall, 17/11/1890.

Collections Overview
The Henry Watson Music Library is named after Dr. Henry Watson, a renowned composer and teacher born in nearby Accrington. After his death in 1911 he bequeathed the contents of his private library to the care of Manchester City Council. Watson's original collection (some 16,700 volumes) has been supplemented by many important donations and acquisition since and has grown into one of the largest collections of music in any public library.
