Description
This collection consists of seven programmes for concerts given by Brand Lane in the Free Trade Hall, Manchester. The first programme is for the first concert given as part of the Brand Lane Festival Series, 19/10/1918. The second programme is for a concert given as part of the Brand Lane's Festival and Celebrity Series, with Madame Tetrazzini and the Manchester Philharmonic, 17/10/1925. There is a duplicate programme for this concert. The third programme is for a concert given as part of the Brand Lane's Orchestral and Celebrity Series, with Marie Hall, Mark Hambourg and the Manchester Philharmonic, 19/10/1929. The fourth programme is for a concert given under the auspices of Brand Lane's Orchestral Concerts with the Brand Lane Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Henry J. Wood, 21/11/1914. The fifth programme is for a performance of "Messiah", given as part of the Brand Lane Subscription Concert, 18/12/1933. The sixth programme is for a concert given as part of the Brand Lane's Festival and Celebrity Series, with John McCormack and Lauri Kennedy, 12/2/1927. The seventh programme is for a concert given as part of the Brand Lane's Festival and Celebrity Series, with Rosina Buckman, Maurice D'Oisly, Thorpe Bates, the Manchester Philharmonic, the Halle Orchestra and Sir Henry J. Wood, 13/2/1926.

Collections Overview
The Henry Watson Music Library is named after Dr. Henry Watson, a renowned composer and teacher born in nearby Accrington. After his death in 1911 he bequeathed the contents of his private library to the care of Manchester City Council. Watson's original collection (some 16,700 volumes) has been supplemented by many important donations and acquisition since and has grown into one of the largest collections of music in any public library.
